The letters below, from previous Oxford
Program members, convey the hopes and excitement you
can expect as you progress through the Oxford
Program."
"Hi Steve,
Back in March or April I stumbled upon your website. I
liked what you had to say about your own career change
so much that I signed up right away. Within a couple of weeks it was clear to me what I
needed to do.
By the end of April I gave my notice at my job and in
May I left the world of computers. I now have my Real
Estate license and I get to work with people as much as
I want. AND I'm independent and make my own schedule. I
LOVE IT!! I'm poor as all heck right now, :) but its
starting to pay and I just absolutely love it.
Thank you for doing what you do - it gave me the
courage to do what I've done. I haven't been happier or
more proud of myself in... well, ever! I loved your
system - so many different ways to get information
about yourself and so many methods of interpretation. I
really enjoyed that - light bulbs were going off in my
head over and over. 'Oh, that's why I...' Yep - very
cool. And I really appreciated your personal notes and
the way you encouraged all the members - it made me feel like I wasn't just a paycheck for you.
Keep doing what you're doing - it works!!"
"Hi Steve,
I did your program a couple months ago, and I just wanted to let you know
that it really pointed me in the right direction.
From all the information I read, tests I took etc, it became pretty obvious
to me that I needed to be an entrepreneur, or small business owner. So, I
thought pretty long/hard about what I wanted out of a business and what
interested me.
I am happy to report, that I have made an offer on a very cool cafe fairly
close to my house, and the offer was accepted by the current owners. We
should be closing next week! A pretty big change from my previous job as
an international consultant, but I am so excited about what I am going to
be doing, that I can barely contain myself. My wife has taken
to giving me sedatives at night so I will sleep - otherwise I'll stay up all
night planning and studying up on it..... For the first time in my life, I
am completely energized and excited about working - so much so that I don't want
to sleep!
Thanks a lot for your help - I think you can safely chalk me up as another
successful graduate of your program!"
"My work with you has helped me to confirm the
employment outlook for the new career that I have chosen as a result of your
program. Here's an overview of how your program helped me to decide what to do:
1) I learned that I am not naturally inclined for sales.
I was what they described as a major mismatch for my profession.
2) I need to be in a job that allows me to have lots of
interaction with other people, it needs to be meaningful and allow me to help
others and get lots of feedback from others.
3) My happiest times were when I was working in health
related jobs. My passion is with learning and teaching about human anatomy,
physiology, nutrition, and kinesiology. It's what I'm always doing when not at
work.
3) I wanted to do my own thing.
After going over the program, I realized that I should
focus on the health & fitness area. My dream is to be a consultant who gets
baby boomers back on track with their physical and mental fitness. They have
lots of money and most are physical and mental wrecks.
My Plan:
Go back to school (at 42 years old) and finish my
undergrad schooling in Exercise and Wellness (already enrolled for this summer),
then go through the Masters program for Physical Therapy. This will give me many
more opportunities within the health and wellness community.
Thanks again for helping me open my eyes!"
"After going through the Oxford Program
exercises, I have decided to pursue a career in writing.
I am intrigued by
the “business plan writer” career and may pursue that in addition to technical writing.
My
younger daughter and I have talked about starting a greenhouse (her passion, my
land), so I may write a business plan for our business and then show it to a
couple of banks, then scout out the demand for business plan writing in my area,
etc. Either way, I plan to invest in
(or save for) a good home office over the next few months, as I will likely work
at home at least part of the time or telecommute.
At my age, I am interested in (1) not wasting any more of my time/talents
and (2) becoming more independent from the traditional world of work, i.e., less
traditionally employed and more entrepreneurial.
I have ordered a book on how to do that successfully. I am ready to live
like you said!"
"Dear Steve,
I have decided to pursue my
interest in teaching, passion for chemistry, and desire to be an expert by
starting a doctoral program in chemical education. Instead of working on science
research, I will be researching how students learn chemistry and how to better
convey the material to help students succeed and even ENJOY the subject! This is
a pretty new program that is not offered at many universities yet, so I will be among an innovative group of people working to solve a very
important problem. I am very excited! I can fulfill my Mastermind
characteristics.
I think I made the decision when I realized that you don't have to fit into a mold. I was always looking for a career that
would be perfect for me, but I should have been creating my own perfect career. Medicine, research, teaching...these are fine careers, but I am the type who needs something stimulating and creative. I need to be challenged, yes, but I also want to be unique.
Soon I realized I could blend all of the things I love. I like the idea that it's not a typical career
path. I like that I am making it up as I go along. By following your advice, I contacted tons of people in
the different fields. Some answered my questions, some didn't, but it is amazing how you can make one friend
who can help make your dreams happen. One of the professors I contacted has been helping me for weeks
and has already landed me a great job at a science and math education center and is helping me get into grad
school ASAP, which would have been impossible on my own. Things just work out when they are right!
I am so pleased that I finally figured it out. This new career may lead me down a number of different
paths, but I know that each one is exactly where I want to be. I owe you big
time!"
"Steve,
I have completed the
program and made a decision to pursue my dream career to become a film
programmer.
Taking the HAB made me
realize that as a specialist, I sincerely need to pursue a career that
matters to me. It's true that I want to be an expert. In the beginning, I
had problems coming up with possible career ideas. It’s probably because I
already had something I love that I cannot compare to anything else…FILMS.
You commented that film programming is the best match for
me and I have to
say it encouraged me. So, here I am leaving the program with a sense of
direction. There’s no way it’s going to be easy, but it’s amazing what
people could do to achieve something what they really really want.
I think that everybody deserves
to pursue their dream career and I
believe there is a perfect match for everybody out there somewhere!
Thank you"
Of course the list of success stories is
actually much greater than this. The point we're trying to get across is
that the Oxford Program works,
and it can help you transform your life to one of enthusiasm, freedom,
balance, and meaning.
