Any Pros:You get to think creatively and problem-solve. Because you are in control of purchasing, you are "wined and dined" by sales people. You get to negotiate a lot, which can be fun and rewarding if you enjoy that sort of thing. You will present plans to clients which may satisfy the performer in you.
Any Cons:*Long hours *Constant deadlines, often with short notice *As you progress, you may manage people, and you will end up doing more managing and less real work *Final say rests with the client *Constant phone calls from and meetings with sales people can become tiring *Constant meetings become tiring, period!
Any Advice:If you are going to pursue a career in media buying/planning, you should be detail-oriented, good in math, a good writer, computer literate, interested in research, able to speak persuasively in front of groups, be willing to put in long hours. Pay is pretty low at the entry level, but can be very good if you progress up the ladder.
